Popeye 1980 PG, 114 min. Genre: Family / Comedy / Musical / Romance
Director: Robert Altman Cast: Robin Williams, Shelley Duvall, Ray Walston, Paul Dooley, Paul L. Smith, Wesley Ivan Hurt, Richard Libertini, Linda Hunt, Donald Moffat, MacIntyre Dixon, Roberta Maxwell, Donovan Scott, Allan F. Nicholls, Bill Irwin, Robert Fortier
This financially less-than-successful rendition of the cartoon character who is "strong to the finish because he eats his spinach" is still OK, but slow, fare as Robin Williams plays the "human" version of Popeye the sailorman, and Shelley Duvall plays the light of his life, Olive Oyl. Popeye and Olive Oyl get together, and Popeye adopts Swee'pea (Wesley Ivan Hurt), but problems lie ahead with Bluto (Paul L. Smith).
