Director: Tobe Hooper Cast: Robert Englund, Ted Levine, Daniel Matmor, Jeremy Crutchley, Vanessa Pike, Demetre Phillips, Lisa Morris, Vera Blacker, Ashley Hayden, Danny Keogh
As so often happens with Stephen King stories, especially short stories, this movie demonstrates the difficulty of capturing the same mood as the written work. The "Mangler" is a huge machine that presses and folds sheets at the Blue Ribbon Laundry owned by mean, old Bill Gartley (Robert Englund). When the Mangler processes a woman and an investigation begins, it becomes apparent that Bill has a deal with the machine to feed it. Then there's the Mangler's "friend," the refrigerator. There seem to be demons at work here. Yes, there is a sequel.

Nancy (Heather Langenkamp) is also having dreams about Freddie, and when her friends are meeting their demise, Nancy knows that she must stay awake and draw the dream killer out of the dreams and into the present-day world. This is great fare in the horror genre. In fact, the story of teenagers with some very bad dreams spurred many sequels.

Director: Frank Pierson Cast: Barbra Streisand, Kris Kristofferson, Paul Mazursky, Gary Busey, Oliver Clark, Sally Kirkland, Robert Englund, Marta Heflin, Joanne Linville, Venetta Fields, Clydie King, M.G. Kelly
Sometimes remakes just do not capture all that the original movie did, and this version of "A Star Is Born" with Barbra Streisand as Esther and Kris Kristofferson as fading rock star Norman does not measure up to earlier versions. There was an Oscar, however, for Streisand's (and Paul Williams) song, "Evergreen."

When he meets Mary Tate Farnsworth (Sally Field) and Joe Santo (Arnold Schwarzenegger) at the gym, he finds depth to their lives of working and staying fit. The opening chase scene and the ending hurricane are the highlights of this lame, but watchable, film. Partners-in-crime Ace and Scratch (Casper Van Dien and Robert Englund) are caught after the above-noted chase, thus thwarting their attempt to rob a tropical island casino. But, instead of being sent to jail, the casino owner hires them as casino security agents. Will they be able to stop the next attempt at robbing the casino? And don't forget the hurricane that is approaching.
