Hopalong Cassidy (William Boyd) comes to the aid of a friend, an Army Colonel, whose son has deserted. Hoppy learns that the son has joined a gang, led by "Professor" Dixon (Robert Emmett Keane), that plots to steal gold. So, Hoppy goes underground to bring the boy to his senses AND stop the gang from executing their plan.
