Later, the machines put Tom and his coworkers out of business, which results in a riot during which Ruth is killed. By story's end, Tom has donated his fortune from the washing machine business to Mary (Aline MacMahon) so that she can feed the hungry during the Depression, and Tom is out roaming the streets looking for a job.

He works to improve conditions at the reform school and the way the kids are being treated. But, Gargan leaves the reform school to kill a rival gangster, and then he goes into hiding. Meanwhile the poor conditions return at the reform school, and when the boys learn that Gargan is really a ruthless mobster they lose faith in him. But, Gargan returns, gets the warden Mr. Thompson (Dudley Digges) kicked out, and regains the boys' respect.

Problems develop when one of Danny's former gang members (Ralf Harolde) enters the scene, but Danny manages to save the day. Fast paced and has its funny moments.

Lou is a ghost along with a female ghost that were hanged as traitors and condemned to stay on the parcel of land until they proved they were innocent. Very funny movie I have always loved watching it over and over. |

The feud escalates, and young Buddy Tolliver (George "Spanky" McFarland) is killed, which is the tragedy that finally brings everyone to their senses.
