They introduce their best friends Marie and Jess (Carrie Fisher and Bruno Kirby) to each other, and love blooms for Marie and Jess. Finally, at a New Year's Eve party, Harry and Sally discover that they are falling in love and, to their utter surprise, their "mere friendship" becomes a meaningful romance.
