Rob Cohen - Movies

Daylight   1996     2 stars    PG-13, 109 min.
Genre: Action
Director: Rob Cohen
Cast: Sylvester Stallone, Amy Brenneman, Viggo Mortensen, Dan Hedaya, Jay O. Sanders, Karen Young, Claire Bloom, Vanessa Bell Calloway, Renoly Santiago, Colin Fox

A Sly Stallone flick with no terrorists–how can this be? There is plenty of excitement, however, as Stallone plays a former rescue service chief who is on the scene when an explosion rips through a New Jersey-to-Manhattan artery, the Holland Tunnel. Special effects, of course, are great.

Dragonheart   1996     2 stars    PG-13, 108 min.

In this medieval tale (actually three stories in one), Draco (voice of Sean Connery) is a dragon with a Scottish accent that joins forces with an embittered dragon slayer, Bowen (Dennis Quaid). The two work out a con game to fill their idle time now that dragons and dragon slayers are passe. The con becomes real when they stave off the advances of the psychopath, King Einon (David Thewlis). While the plots are confusing, the dragon animation is great.

In this look at the "Rat Pack" of the 1960s, the focus is on just five years in the lives of the illustrious clan. The actors make every effort to sound like the originals, and there are some poignant moments as the film depicts the volatile relationships within and without the elite group.
