The campus riots of the 1960s are the focus for this film featuring Elliott Gould as graduate student Harry Bailey whose girlfriend Jan (Candice Bergen) wants to marry and move out of town. Jan adds to Harry's problems as he has arrived on a campus in the midst of turmoil. Following a violent student riot, Harry acts as the mediator between the students and the faculty.
