The catch is that if the husband is killed by a moving vehicle, the policy will pay double. But, they have not counted on tenacious insurance investigator Barton Keyes (Edward G. Robinson) who is assigned to the case. Great performances by all. The film was nominated for seven Academy Awards–including Best Picture, Actress (Stanwyck), and Director.

Great songs by Doris, and the film won an Academy Award for Best Writing and was nominated for five others, including Best Actor.

The dialogue is funny, and the movie is entertaining. Charles Coburn took home the Oscar for his supporting role in this film. There were five other nominations, including Best Picture, Actress, and Director.

The treacherous Garth conspires with the Indians to rid the wilderness of the settlers, and, in turn, he will gain a monopoly on the fur trade. Many problems ensue and are settled before Abby and Holden realize that they are in love with each other and plan to live happily ever after. Another Cecil B. DeMille extravaganza.
