  This 1920s gangster-era story revolves around notorious New York gangster Ben "Bugsy" Siegel (Warren Beatty) who on a trip to Los Angeles visits Las Vegas and decides to get involved in the gambling world. This much-publicized film won Oscars for Best Art Direction and Set Decoration. It also received eight nominations, including Best Picture, Actor (Warren Beatty), Director, and two for Supporting Actor (Harvey Keitel and Ben Kingsley).

  Lots of good music and an interesting perspective on country singers are provided in this film revolving around the adventures of Gilda (Lesley Ann Warren) who becomes the protege of country singer Doc Jenkins (Willie Nelson). Doc gets help and advice from his former partner, Blackie Buck (Kris Kristofferson), in handling the troubled girl. Kristofferson wrote the Academy Award nominated musical score.

Deanie comes from a middle-class family, and her mother (Eva Marie Saint) preaches to her about keeping her virginity to the point that Deanie is headed for a nervous breakdown. Bud's wealthy father Ace (Ned Beatty) wants him to go to Yale, but Bud wants to get married and settle down as a rancher. While the story is about class consciousness and the strict rules of sexuality during an earlier era, it provides enjoyable fare.
