In the 1920s, after her bank robber father Alvin Lee (William Whitton) kills her mother, teenage Lila (Cheryl Smith) is cared for by Reverend Muller (Richard Blackburn). When Lila receives a letter from Lemora (Leslie Gilb) in which she learns that her father is dying and needs her, Lila sneaks away. She sets off on a perilous journey that ends at Lemora's mansion, but her father is nowhere to be seen. It turns out that Lemora is a lesbian vampire who has a sexual interest in Lila. Now, while trying to learn what happened to her father, Lila must fight for her own life.

Eventually, nine go on trial, but all are acquitted. However, the populace does not agree with the verdicts, and a series of lynchings result. This made-for-HBO film is based on a true story.
