After three directors and one complete re-filming, the fourth "Exorcist" film was finally released. It is a blood-filled prequel to the classic that follows Father Merrin (Stellan Skarsgard) before he performed the exorcism. Haunted by the memories of the brutality suffered by his people during World War II, Merrin loses his faith in God and leaves Holland. Trained as an archeologist, he joins an excavation in Kenya. An ancient church–in perfect condition–is unearthed. But soon strange and brutal events begin, and Merrin sees the face of Evil that has haunted him over the years.
