On the trek, they encounter floods, winds, and treacherous areas of heat and cold–along with prehistoric beasts and Count Saknussemm (Thayer David) who killed Carla's husband and has been striving to be the first person to reach the center of Earth. Special effects are what earn this film its three stars.
