Meanwhile, Glennister has fallen in love with Helen (Barbara Britton) whose uncle, Judge Stillman (Carl Benton Reid), is in cahoots with McNamara. Glennister is arrested on a murder charge but breaks out of jail and ends up in a fistfight with McNamara to gain back his rights to reopen his mine.

  A young fashion designer, Margot Sherwood Merrick (Myrna Loy), comes up with the idea of wearing a wedding ring as a ruse to deter would-be suitors. While the plan works in the beginning, Jeff Thompson (Melvyn Douglas) pursues Margot in spite of her ring.
