The maps are stolen by Robinson's agents, and the chase is on as Barton will stop at nothing to retrieve them.

Walthall, Miriam Cooper, and Mae Marsh) being separated from the Stonemans (Lillian Gish, Ralph Lewis, and Robert Harron) by the Civil War and the Mason Dixon line. When the war ends, Ben Cameron (Walthall) organizes a secret group, the Ku Klux Klan, to "restore" order. Music and battle noises were added for a 1930 reissue.

On the way, after the ship's captain, Bull (Victor McLaglen), finds that she is on the lam, he blackmails her into providing sexual favors. Taking the place of a missionary who died on the trip, Doll becomes a woman of God, who eventually decides to return to San Francisco to clear herself.

  i would not agree with a lot of the movie, wes was only living the way of the west at that time, after all look at how the world is today.

Raoul Walsh's first feature film is a good one as he captures the atmosphere of the area and uses inventive photography (for the time).

  Gloria Swanson plays the prostitute Sadie Thompson who arrives on Pago Pago in the South Pacific and finds true love with Marine Sgt. Tim O'Hara (Raoul Walsh). Now, Sadie runs head-on into hypocritical preacher Alfred Hamilton (Lionel Barrymore) who is not pleased with her relationship with Tim and tells her that he will expose Sadie's prostitution background to the authorities if she will not leave the island. But, one night Hamilton seduces Sadie, and then his guilt causes him to commit suicide. This allows Sadie to reunite with Tim, and they prepare to begin a new life together. Swanson received an Oscar nomination for Best Actress.

But, they leave clues behind, and Cody ends up in jail on a trumped up charge. Now, the feds send an undercover agent Hank Fallon, a.k.a. "Vic" (Edmund O'Brien), to the jail. He befriends Cody and infiltrates Cody's gang. Cody's mother is killed, Cody breaks out of jail with "Vic," and reunites with his gang for a chase scene through a chemical factory ending with Cody crying out to his deceased mother.

In an effort to save them, Countess Marina says she will marry Semyon when he orders the release of Clark and Portugee.
