In 1976, British expatriate Steven Spurrier (Alan Rickman), now living in Paris where he owns a wine shop, sets up a wine competition. Jim's hippie son Bo (Chris Pine) isn't very interested in the family business, but Jim agrees to enter the contest, despite being suspicious that the contest is rigged in favor of the French.
