  Rex Gridley (John McGuire) is leading smugglers doing their business around the Mexican border. Border Patrolman Roy Rogers has been sent to investigate and gets help from local Sheriff Cookie Bullfincher (Andy Devine) and Lee Madison (Dale Evans), a novelist. Plans go awry, but it is Lee who comes up with the solution, and they put an end to the smuggling.

  "Fox" (Morris Ankrum) leads a tough gang that does its "business" along the Mexican border. Hoppy (William Boyd) poses as an outlaw in order to infiltrate the gang and bring Fox and other members to justice. He comes to town acting as coarse and nasty as possible in order to get noticed, and it works–he is hired by the leader. Hoppy finds out that Fox has been posing as the town's moron, but he is found out. Will Hoppy succeed in his mission? A good entry.

The Kid gets a job as a guard at Jessup's saloon and eventually exacts his revenge.
