High school French teacher Sabine (Arsinee Khanjian) assigns her class the project of translating a news story concerning airport security agents discovering a bomb that had been placed by a man into his pregnant girlfriend's luggage. One of the students, Simon (Devon Bostick), relates the story to his personal history in when his suicide-bomber father Sami (Noam Jenkins) wrecked a car, and he and Simon's mother Rachel (Rachel Blanchard) were killed, leaving Simon orphaned and now living with his Uncle Tom (Scott Speedman). Simon goes one step further and fashions the story by describing his father as a killer and posting the story on the Internet. The story now becomes an obsession provoking discussions about the difference between freedom fighters and terrorists.

Although both have their share of problems (they got together while sharing the same jail cell after a drinking binge), their dependence on each other allows Walt to have a place to live and Skylar to gain a guardian until his parents return.
