Dr. Valerie Somers (Barbara Hershey) had become a celebrity after writing a book about her daughter's murder. But now, Valerie has disappeared, and Detective Leon Zat (Anthony LaPaglia) heads up the police investigation. Leon's interest in the case is peaked when he learns that his own wife, Sonja (Kerry Armstrong), is listed as one of Dr. Somers' patients. Since Leon is already cheating on Sonja through an affair with Jane (Rachael Blake), he is tempted to read his wife's files–a move fraught with repercussions in this story about how lies and mistrust can destroy marriages.
