Teenager David Rice (Hayden Christensen) learns that he is capable of teleporting anywhere in the world. As a "jumper" he can land on any spot that he imagines and can reach forbidden corners. But, the "paladins" have a vendetta against the "jumpers," and Roland (Samuel L. Jackson) is determined to put a stop to the "jumpers" journeys. Now, eight years after David discovered his gift, he is living the good life–until Roland appears in David's living room armed with gyzmos to immobilize him. Roland is unsuccessful, and David escapes. He reconnects with childhood friend Millie (Rachel Bilson) and takes her to Rome. While visiting Rome, he meets another "jumper" Griffin (Jamie Bell), and David learns that he is not alone and that he is in the middle of a war between "jumpers" and "paladins."
