The film won an Oscar for Best Cinematography and was nominated for six others, including Best Picture, Actor (Hackman), Supporting Actress (Frances McDormand) and Director.

Changes begin for Sully when his son Peter (Dylan Walsh) arrives in town for Thanksgiving, and Sully learns that he has a grandson. Now, Sully decides that the holiday season is the time to start fixing up broken relationships. Newman was nominated for a Best Actor Oscar.
