  In 1929, Englishman John Whittaker (Ben Barnes) falls in love with American Larita Huntington (Jessica Biel), and they marry after knowing each other only a short time. John takes Larita to his home in England, and his mother Veronica (Kristin Scott Thomas) does not approve of Larita as her daughter-in-law. As the battle of wits ensues between Larita and Veronica, Larita's marriage to John suffers.

  Artist Harry Donovan (Jason Patrick) is hired by a British art gallery to forge a Rembrandt (that has been lost for over 300 years). The price: $500,000. Meanwhile, he meets and has a one-night stand with Marieke (Irene Jacob), who happens to be a Rembrandt expert and who later is hired to evaluate the painting's authenticity. So it's off to Europe to research and paint, but the plans go awry when Marieke declares the painting a fake and Harry runs for his life–with Marieke as a hostage.

But, the demonic protector of the box (Udo Kier) unleashes his fury on anyone attempting to get the Loculus.
