|Michael J Fox is outstanding||MJF is stunning. 08/10/2012 |
| the movie is slow in pace and speaking how Jamie Conway fails to be a French editor, but it's nice to see MJF in this movie, acting so nice. Being a person who loves his wife even when she left with ohters, and being weak in French but still try on French editor position. it's nice to see MJF being so nice, this film wants to bring "THINK POSITIVE" and MJF finally finds out that this world is still beautiful and needs time to find out!!!|
|Date with an Angel 1987 PG, 114 min.|
Director: Tom McLoughlin
Cast: Michael E. Knight, Phoebe Cates, Emmanuelle Beart, David Dukes, Phil Brock, Albert Macklin
This is a not-so-funny comedy in which an angel loses her wings and finds herself being cared for by a young gentleman. You should consider avoiding this movie. 1 User Review

| The fact that this is a wishful and farcical fantasy seems to have been lost on the critics. The somewhat tongue in cheek story line should have allowed for more tolerance of the over the top acting and a few spell breaking moments. I believe that 24 years of time has made this period piece more precious as a vehicle for a few minutes of entertaining escape. We look back at the actors and ourselves 24 years ago and catch our breath as to where the time has gone that has taken some of the actors, some of our friends, and a lot of our youth. One wonders if the surviving actors ever look back at their experience in Wilmington with any fondness as they should. As a low budget production among about 23 over two years from the De Laurentiis Entertainment Group (DEG) this movie is entertaining in its parts and in its entirety as a wishful fantasy in a relatively recent time before cell phones, the internet, e-mail, HDTV, and the television programming morass of infomercials complicated our lives with so much noise today.|

She is taken in by the Worralls (Jim Broadbent and Wendy Hughes) whose butler, Frexos (Kevin Kline) convinces them to have her tried for vagrancy. During the trial, she uses pantomime to convince the magistrate that her name is "Caraboo" and that she is a princess who was kidnapped by pirates but managed to escape by swimming ashore. The Worralls take her back to their home, but a reporter, Gutch (Stephen Rea), still thinks she is a fraud and investigates to find out whether or not Caraboo is telling the truth. Fun, with a good cast and story.
