Millie becomes even more successful than Kitty, and that leads to a long-standing feud between the women that will extend for years and include Millie believing that Kitty is trying to steal Preston and results in the end of Millie's marriage. Years later, the feud extends to Millie's daughter Deirdre (Dolores Moran) who is in love with Kitty's fiance Rudd (Gig Young). Kitty gives up Rudd to Deirdre, and the women end their rift and become inseparable old acquaintances.
