Nina (Shirley Jean Rickert) is a half-Indian child who has inherited land that contains oil. Her guardian, Chris Morrell (John Wayne), tries to contact Nina's long-lost father Tom (Earl Dwire) because she needs his signature before collecting the oil lease. Meanwhile, Sam Black (Yakima Canutt) and his gang will stop at nothing to get their hands on Nina's inheritance. Chris does find Tom, and with cowhand Matt Downing (George "Gabby" Hayes), they fight Black and his gang in a final confrontation in the Snake River.
