  It is the 22nd century, and Martine Quiller (Gwynyth Walsh), the CEO of Proxate Corporation, recruits Capt. Sean Murdoch (Malcolm McDowell) to command a run-down ship and sail to Nigeria. Too late, Murdoch realizes that his ship is carrying criminally insane inmates. As if that were not enough, Murdoch learns that bombs have been planted on the ship. It is obvious to Murdoch that the ship was never meant to reach Nigeria. When he changes the ship's course, Martine activates a killer cyborg (Daniela Nolano) that has been hidden on board, and chaos ensues with Murdoch now fighting for his life.

  Shirley and Cyril (Ruth Sheen and Philip Davis) are a hippie couple who deal with life among London's lower class in this brilliant satire on Margaret Thatcher's politics. Shirley and Cyril have no children, but they do tend to the needs of Cyril's widowed mother, Mrs. Bender (Edna Dore). Meanwhile, Cyril's upper-middle class sister Valerie (Heather Tobias) and her philandering husband Martin (Philip Jackson) ignore Mrs. Bender–until Valerie decides to give Mrs. Bender a 70th birthday party and invite the whole family. The family does get together with disastrous results, but Shirley manages to hold things together.

She tries bullying Hamish, but that doesn't work, and life settles down–until Mrs. Jones' high-strung son, William (Tony Maudsley) becomes interested in Sarah.

If the claim goes through, the beneficiary of a $1,000,000 death benefit is the victim's sister Isold (Julia Stiles) who lives in a run-down cabin with her husband Fred (Jeremy Renner) and son Thor (Vladas Bagdonas). During the investigation, Fred becomes the prime suspect in what Holt has now determined to be a murder case in which the car victim's identity was forged. But, as he gets to know Isold, Holt's professionalism wavers.

Brenda Blethyn received an Oscar nomination for Supporting Actress.

He survives and heads back to England, but the Gestapo is on his trail, so he must go underground to do battle with his enemies.
