  Brooke (Jennifer Aniston) and Gary (Vince Vaughn) meet at a Cubs game at Wrigley Field, fall in love, and buy a condo together. During a family dinner party, problems erupt, and Brooke breaks up with Gary. But, neither Brooke nor Gary is willing to give up the condo, so each retreats to separate spaces inside the premises. Bad advice from family and friends leads to more problems in their mental battle as each connives to force the other out.

  Barbara Novak (Renee Zellweger) has written a book "Down With Love" that reveals her feelings that women should rely on what will make them truly happy and regard career and sex as more important than love. The book is a hit, and Barbara appears in control of her destiny until she meets and falls for playboy journalist Catcher Block (Ewan McGregor) who plans to write an expose on Barbara and take her down. Catcher's plan works–until he starts to fall in love with Barbara.

After giving a homeless man (Brent Briscoe) a ride and money, saying "Yes" to bank loan requests, organizing a wedding shower for his friend Peter's (Bradley Cooper) wife, and even saying "Yes" to free-spirited, scooter-riding Allison (Zooey Deschanel), Carl has become a changed man.
