U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Will Montgomery (Ben Foster) returns home from the war in Iraq and begins work with the Casualty Notification Office. Capt. This requires emotional detachment, but when Will delivers news to Olivia Pitterson (Samantha Morton) that her husband has died, he is drawn to her and is faced with the ethical dilemma of becoming involved with a vulnerable woman.
