Then, her old high school boyfriend, Slick Henderson (Peter Coyote), comes back into Juanita's life and convinces her to write songs and publish them.

When Oscar realizes that Nigel is drawn to Mimi, he makes him listen to the stories (told in flashbacks) of how Mimi's actions caused Oscar to turn their relationship around from Mimi's degrading sex games into his sadistic abuse. Matters get really out of hand during the New Year's Eve party.

  Oversexed Professor Dennis Burke (Peter Coyote) wrote a popular novel 20 years ago and has been living off that ego trip ever since. He teaches Hawthorne's works at a small university after having been fired from a prestigious university when charged with harassment of students. Burke starts reading letters addressed to the former tenant of his apartment that are from a prisoner (Nastassja Kinski), strikes up a friendship with her, and then tries to prove that she is innocent. Now Erik has a purpose in life to tell the story of this fallen sports hero, and while dedicating himself to writing an honest story, Erik re-examines his professional and personal lives and improves them both.
