  A peace treaty between the United States government and the Apache Indians is threatened by the actions of Ed Bannon (Charlton Heston). As a White child, Bannon was raised by Apaches, and now he holds bitterness in his heart toward them. When the Apache chief's college-educated son, Toriano (Jack Palance), leads the Apaches in bloody raids against the cavalry, the officers refuse to heed Bannon's warnings. Toriano and Bannon finally confront each other, and Bannon kills Toriano, which brings peace between the troopers and the Apaches.

Archaeologist James Halsey (Dennis Moore) and his assistant Dr. Ilzor Zandaab (Peter Coe)–who, unknown to Halsey, is a member of the Egyptian cult of Akran–arrive to find the mummies who have been transferred to Cajun country after the bog was drained. Kharis and Ananka are revived when Zandaab obtains tanna leaves that he knows are the secret potion to bring them back. Ananka suffers from amnesia and wanders the streets. Kharis is determined to find her, and he wreaks havoc in Louisiana as he kills anyone who stands in his way. Will Halsey be the one to finally put the mummies away for good? This is the final film in the "Mummy" series.
