During the Prohibition Era in Chicago, Federal Agent Eliot Ness (Kevin Costner) sets out to stop Al Capone (Robert De Niro) who controls the underworld alcohol empire. When Ness meets veteran patrolman Jimmy Malone (Sean Connery), he asks him for help, and they recruit academy cadet George Stone (Andy Garcia) and Treasury agent Oscar Wallace (Charles Martin Smith) to help in their mission. They pursue Capone who, after becoming enraged, strikes back, but his pursuers prove to be untouchable. Connery won an Academy Award as Best Supporting Actor, and three other nominations were received.
