Fortunately for Ambrose, when his sailor friends come to his aid, a slapstick battle ensues, and Ambrose registers the pier as a cruise ship under a foreign flag. Now, his "ship" is no longer under the domain of land authorities, and the fun continues.

This great film won the Academy Award for Best Picture, David Lean won for Best Director, and Alec Guinness won for Best Actor. Nemo (Herbert Lom) of the "Nautilus" from "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" and learn of his plan to feed the world's population, thus ending wars.
