Meanwhile, "No. 5" falls into the hands of an animal lover (Ally Sheedy) who takes it in like a stray cat. OK for the young ones. There is a sequel.

Written by Rod Serling, this is the story of an old, deli owner, Abel (Peter Ustinov), in upstate New York. Since the death of his son in World War II, he has shut himself in with regard to relationships. As part of a campaign to bring needy children to live briefly with townsfolk, an African American boy (N'gai Dixon) arrives to stay with Abel. The Harlem boy is likewise sour on life, but the two develop a strong relationship. Remade in 2000.
