Adriana (Lana Turner) inherits a fortune after her husband Charles (Dan O'Herlihy) dies, but her stepdaughter Lisa (Karin Mossberg) plots to steal the inheritance. Hippy Lisa is romantically involved with medical student Johnny Allen (George Chakiris) who sells LSD on the side. They lace Adriana's sleeping pills with LSD to the extent that she ends up committed to an asylum. Then, Broadway playwright Frederick Lansdale (Richard Egan) steps in and tries to rescue Adriana. Will he accomplish his goal in time, or will Lisa and Johnny succeed in taking Adriana's money?
