John takes the Benson family (James Gleason, Nancy Gates, and Kim Charney) and the town's sheriff, Tod Shaw (Sterling Hayden), hostage in a house that overlooks the train station–a strategic place for the assassination. As the time for the arrival nears, John gets loonier and loonier. Good film noir.
