The film won five Academy Awards, including Best Supporting Actress (Gloria Grahame for her role as Rosemary Bartlow), and Kirk Douglas received an Oscar nomination for Best Actor.

Fields hires private detective Arthur Belding (Harry Guardino) to investigate and learns that Field's supervisor Dr. Arkroyd (Victor Jory) had been involved with the dead woman. Now, pieces of the puzzle fit together, and they figure out that Field's co-worker Lew Haley (Pat Hingle) is the guilty culprit. Dillman and Haley have a confrontation, and Haley crashes through the hi-rise office window and plummets to the pavement below.

It turns out that the box is filled with atomic explosives ready to be unleashed on the world. Great job, especially for it's time.

  like most movies this has a touch of truth. reporters are as unscruplous then as they are today. so many time it seem no one wants the truth, only dirt. pity!

  This war film stars Gregory Peck as General Frank Savage who takes over Major Harvey Stovall's (Dean Jagger) World War II bomber squadron in England. The story is told in flashback as Stovall relates the perils of leadership and the stresses of command. Savage institutes strict discipline, but the men grow cold to him because of his orders. Eventually, Savage cares for his men above all else, and the story concerns the stresses of command as the leader becomes too close to his men. Dean Jagger won an Oscar as Best Supporting Actor and nominations were received for Best Picture and Actor (Gregory Peck).
