Jesse even has a "day" job as a respected businessman using the name of Thomas Howard and has a trophy wife, Zee (Mary-Louise Parker), and two children. But the restless Jesse is putting together a new gang made up of second-rate gangsters, which includes young Bob (Casey Affleck) who has collected Jesse James clippings and stories since he was a small boy and idolized Jesse. Another problem that Jesse has is that there is a large bounty on him, dead or alive. As time passes, Bob becomes jealous of Jesse and with the reward he could receive, he decides to kill Jesse, which he does. An interesting study of the two men that is based on Ron Hansen's historical novel of the same name. The film received two Academy Award nominations including Best Supporting Actor (Affleck).

But, when Fanny tries to help John's family when his brother Tom (Olly Alexander) is dying from tuberculosis, John thanks her by teaching her poetry. Despite objections from John's writing partner Charles Armitage Brown (Paul Schneider), they begin a romance that is doomed when John dies of tuberculosis in 1821 at the age of 25. The Film received an Academy Award nomination for Best Costumes.

Lucky for him because flight attendant Claire (Kirsten Dunst) gives him all of her attention, which results in Drew finding hope despite his adversities.

Shy Lars Lindstrom (Ryan Gosling) cannot stand to be touched and cannot relate to other human beings. He orders a life-size "Real Doll" that is anatomically correct, names her Bianca, and introduces her to his brother Gus (Paul Schneider) and Gus' wife Karin (Emily Mortimer). Not knowing how to handle Lars' delusions, Karin gets Lars to visit a doctor/psychologist, Dagmar (Patricia Clarkson), who convinces Karin and Gus to sympathize with Lars. They heed her advice, and, before long, the townsfolk join in and accept Bianca. The act of putting aside skepticism actually helps Lars when the community treats Bianca with respect. The film received an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay.
