Jack Steele (Tony Curtis) was the Reptile Man in a television series 25 years ago, and Lewis Rosen (Arye Gross) played Reptile Man's sidekick, Tadpole. Together, they fought for justice. Now the TV superhero and sidekick still put on their costumes and make public appearances, taking advantage of their popularity (Does this sound a little like Clayton Moore playing The Lone Ranger?). But Lewis is tired of being the brunt of Jack's jokes and wants to get back in show business. It appears that Jack may be hampering Lewis' chances at landing a job.

She relates the story of her past when, as a young German, Inge (Elizabeth Reaser) arrived in Minnesota during 1920 as a mail-order bride for Olaf. There were major problems with the planned marriage: Inge was German and a socialist, and Norwegian/American Olaf and his Norwegian farming neighbors had problems accepting a woman from the country with which America had just fought a war. Even the Lutheran Minister Sorrensen (John Heard) refused to marry them. These and other trials and tribulations of immigration rise to the fore, but as time passes the love story of Inge and Olaf ends happily. 1 User Review

| | Movie Maniac 03/28/2012 | | Great movie - shows what some immigrants went through coming to America, the hardships, true friendship, enduring love and devotion, and the prejudice and bigotry displayed by others not far removed from immigrant ancestors. Amazing how the bigotry and prejudice filled the church. |
