  A killer ape and the murder of the circus owner interfere with Charlie Chan's (Warner Oland) trip to the circus with his 12 children. Meanwhile, Charlie travels by train with the circus to the next town trying to solve the crime before another murder is committed. J. Carrol Naish, who plays lion tamer Tom Holt in this film, will later take on the role of Charlie Chan in the 1950s' TV series.
