In the midst of John's dilemma, he runs into his ex-girlfriend Marianne (Dana Delany) and looks to her as the answer to his problems. But, Marianne is a recovering drug addict and doesn't want to become involved with John. John's problems grow even larger when the police investigate the murder of a woman involved in a drug transaction, and John worries that the clues are leading to him. Touches of humor offset the "heavy" subject.
