Good jazz is what makes this film work in this story that is based on Shakespeare's "Othello." The Othello character is bandleader Aurelius Rex (Paul Harris), and the Desdemona character is Aurelius' wife and band singer Delia Lane (Marti Stevens). The Iago character, Johnny Cousin (Patrick McGoohan), rounds out the ensemble as the band's drummer who tries to ruin their marriage and take over the band by spreading rumors that Delia is unfaithful to Aurelius.

Mosley) and sidekick Slim (Richard Pryor). The corrupt cops kill Goldie's mother (Juanita Moore) and frame Goldie. She hires the ruthless hit man Harvard Blue (Yaphet Kotto) and his gang of killers to exact revenge on Truck. Standard "blaxpoitation" with musical score by–you guessed it–Isaac Hayes.
