Big Daddy (Burl Ives) is dying, and family members are hovering like vultures around his home. Brick (Paul Newman) and his childless wife, Maggie (Elizabeth Taylor), are there along with his brother's family of "No Neck Monsters"–as Maggie refers to the children. Of the situation, Brick says: "The truth is something desperate, and Maggie's got it. Believe me, it is desperate, and she has got it."
