Jean Hersholt started the "Dr. Christian" radio series in 1937 that lasted for 16 years. This film is the first of six episodes–also starring Hersholt. Loveable Dr. Christian has a practice in a small Minnesota town, and in this episode the good doctor wants to build a hospital. But the town's mayor has other plans–until Dr. Christian, despite having out-of-date tools, performs a delicate operation on the mayor's daughter.
