Andre (Gerard Depardieu), trying to make up not being around for her, takes his 14-year-old daughter, Veronique (Marie Gillain), to a resort. In order to win over a windsurfer, she fabricates that she is older than she is, that she in Andre's lover, and that Andre is a dying gangster. After Andre finds out about the stories, he goes along with her story. Remade in English in 1994 with Depardieu returning as Andre.

Francois Pignon (Gad Elmaleh) is a parking valet working at a Paris restaurant who just happens to get in the frame of an incriminating picture the paparazzi take of wealthy businessman Pierre Lavasseur (Daniel Auteuil) and his mistress Elina (Alice Taglioni). To convince his wife Christine (Kristin Scott Thomas) that there is nothing going on between him and Elena, Lavasseur convinces Francois and Elena to move in together and pretend that they are in love when out in public. As the games begin, tensions increase, and complications ensue–especially when Christine learns the truth and joins in on the "games."
