But, the visit is called short when Sebastian learns that his domineering, Catholic mother, Lady Marchmain (Emma Thompson), is returning, and he is sure that she will disapprove of Charles' atheism. Later, Charles receives a cable from Sebastian who has hurt his foot and needs care. He invites Charles back to revisit Brideshead. This time, Charles meets and falls in love with Sebastian's sister Julia (Hayley Atwell), an emotional triangle develops, and Charles cannot resist his infatuation with Brideshead.

The result: love at first sight between Pelagia and Captain Corelli–despite more than a few problems.

Because the map is printed in Latin, Morgan joins forces with a well-educated slave, William Shaw (Matthew Modine), who can interpret the map. It isn't long before Morgan discovers that her nasty uncle, Dawg Brown (Frank Langella), is also searching for pieces of the map, and a battle ensues with lots of sword-fighting action.

Acting as well as special effects score high, but the film is too long for the material covered.
