In the last days before World War II, during September 1938, British police detective Alan Cross (Adrian Dunbar) arrives in a French coastal town to attend the funeral of one of his good friends. He uses the trip to investigate the death of his friend, and the trail leads him to the estate of the aristocratic Graves family who appear to be hiding more than a few secrets.
