This made-for-TV version of the "Goodbye Girl" features Patricia Heaton in the role of divorced and aging Broadway dancer Paula McFadden who shares an apartment with her young daughter, Lucy (Hallie Kate Eisenberg). Paula agrees to let aspiring actor Elliot (Jeff Daniels) move into the apartment, and over a period of time love enters the relationship. But, their love is tested when Elliot fails in his acting role and considers moving on.
