This made-for-TV remake of the classic fairy tale is set to music (by Rodgers and Hammerstein) and is enjoyable fare. Cinderella (Lesley Ann Warren) is treated poorly by her stepmother (Jo Van Fleet) and stepsisters (Pat Carroll and Barbara Ruick). They forbid Cinderella to go to the ball where the Prince (Stuart Damon) will choose his bride. The Fairy Godmother (Celeste Holm) appears and magically transforms Cinderella into the belle of the ball. Cinderella meets the Prince and captures his heart. But, the Fairy Godmother's magic will last only until midnight, and Cinderella must flee the ball. Will the Prince pursue her?

This is Disney's excellent animated version of Hans Christian Andersen's mermaid Ariel (voice of Jodi Benson), who falls in love with a handsome human (voice of Christopher Daniel Barnes). The song "Under the Sea" won an Oscar. Songwriter Alan Menken also won an Oscar for Best Musical Score, and another of his songs, "Kiss the Girl," was nominated.

Wright), to rescue Melody. Will he succeed?
