Wren (Susan Berman) is a New Jersey 19 year old who moves to NYC and enters the world of punk rock in her quest for fame and fortune. Lacking musical talent but determined to become a star, Wren latches onto rock musician Eric (Richard Hell) and nice-guy Paul (Brad Rijn) who lives in a van. Her relationships with them prove meaningless, and despite her desperate attempts to gain stardom, Wren's efforts prove ill-fated.
