This sequel to "The Emigrants" follows in the excellent tradition as it chronicles the Minnesota phase of the Swedish emigrants Kristina and Karl-Oskar (Liv Ullmann and Max von Sydow). While settling into their new home, they must deal with the Sioux tribes and their bloody uprising. The film received an Academy Award nomination for Best Foreign Film.
