This film does a good, though biased, job of relating people's emotions over the Vietnam War. It tells the story of U.S. Marine Corps Captain Bob Hyde (Bruce Dern) and his wife Sally's (Jane Fonda) affair with paraplegic war veteran Luke Martin (John Voight). Jane Fonda and Jon Voight won Academy Awards for Best Actress and Actor. An Oscar was also awarded for Best Screenplay, and five nominations were received, including Best Picture, Director, Supporting Actor (Dern) and Actress (Penelope Milford as Sally's troubled friend Vi).

Sanders), Durell joins forces with LeeJohn to rob a church in order to provide funds to keep mother and son in town. They go to the church, but the money is missing, and now they hold the parishioners captive. Among the group of hostages are choirmaster Rickey (Katt Williams), Sister Doris (Loretta Devine), and Pastor Arthur Mitchell (Chi McBride).
